It’s spooky season! That means it’s time to buy some green, make a bag of popcorn, and cue up the scary movies. We did our research and collected some of the best Halloween movies on Netflix right now. Check out Respect My Region’s top eight picks below.
8 Halloween Movies on Netflix for Spooky Season
Scary Movie 1, 2, 3
These movies are perfect for having friends over. Queue them up and throw the best Halloween party on the planet. The Scary Movie series is good for giggling during a good smoke sesh, playing in the background while you bob for apples, or just engrossing yourself in the hilarious parody that has entertained stoners for years.
The Babysitter
Now if you want a good Halloween movie for Netflix and chill, this is a valid spooky option. Crank up the volume, crank down the heat, and settle in. This movie follows a group of teens who also happen to be in a murderous, satanic cult. 12-year-old Cole must move past his crush on his hot babysitter to escape with his life.
Alternative use for The Babysitter: watch this when getting over your ex. Remind yourself that they too, although hot, would sacrifice you for their own personal gain.

Paranormal Activity
It would be a shame to leave out this iconic Halloween movie. It’s classic, terrifying, and one of the best of 2007. This film follows the story of a young couple who are being stalked and harassed by a demon. We follow their story through the lens of their own camera, and when that isn’t available, through security footage.
Watch it for the chilling ending, or more than likely, a sense of nostalgia for a younger you, terrified (or ostentatiously NOT SCARED) by the mere mention of this movie.
No One Gets Out Alive
This movie is a new film that follows a young woman from Mexico who seeks shelter in Cleveland (which we agree, Cleveland is scary enough on its own). Without documentation, Ambar (Cristina Rodlo) is unable to utilize police services as she becomes increasingly scared in a boardinghouse owned by two suspicious brothers and suffers a series of disturbing visions.
It’s up to her to escape this new hell, but as the title states, “No One Gets Out Alive.”
The Purge
If our current political and environmental landscape has you more fearful than any movie could ever be, live out your fears in this dystopian world. The best part about The Purge is that it feels only two bad decisions and one natural disaster away from actually happening.
The movie details what would happen if no laws existed for 12 hours. All crime becomes legal, including murder. This dystopian is a good preparation for the future, so bring your notebook and take some notes when watching this Halloween classic.
Hubie Halloween
If you cover your eyes at the gory parts of scary movies and scream at the jump-scares, then Hubie Halloween is for you. This Adam Sandler movie is an all around good time. You get all the goofs, and none of the horror, with this cute Halloween-themed comedy.
The movie follows Hubie Dubois (Adam Sandler) as he finds himself, once again, as the butt of the joke. The town mocks him and his good-natured efforts/dedication to his town of Salem, but chaos ensues and he finds himself at the center of a very real murder. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it’s Sandler’s best-rated movie yet!
The Ritual
This movie follows a group of four friends who are reuniting after the tragic loss of their mutual friend. The group decides to hike through the Scandinavian wilderness. While traveling through mountainous forests, the friends begin feeling like they are being followed. Things begin crumbling as the group realizes the horrors that are ahead of them. Reality starts to bend as this group of unsuspecting friends experience mysterious Norse evils. Even though it was released in 2017, it still holds a spot on Netflix’s best horror movie list.
The Fear Street Trilogy
This series of horror movies was released last summer. Additionally, they were written by the great R.L. Stine who wrote the incredible Goosebumps series. They have instantly become a huge hit as they deliver a new take on the classic slasher format. Additionally, this trilogy follows the same town in the years 1994, 1978, and 1666.
These films throw the viewer into a tangled web of scary tales from all different time periods while delivering some truly terrifying moments. Even though these stories are many years apart, one can help but wonder if this town is plagued by something larger than itself.
