Cultivation Jobs Offer Hands On Experience With Cannabis Plants

At the very beginning of the process, cannabis professionals must create the product. In other words, this industry’s first step is to grow and cultivate cannabis. Within this sector of the industry, there are multiple jobs presently available. The cultivation director essentially operates as a manager for a grow operation. This means that the director must set up harvesting schedules, make sure the product is state/federally compliant, establish standard operating procedures, and of course, manage their team.

Next on the list is the grower, or master grower. This position involves working with directors to effectively grow the product. The position is certainly more hands-on as you are actually taking care of the plants yourself. Finally, the trimmer works to maintain each plant, trim canopy leaves, as well as carefully cultivate buds.

The Cannabis Industry Relies On Laboratory Work To Process Product

Once cannabis plants are cultivated, a portion of the product is shipped out as flower. Leftover cannabis is then brought to a lab. A lab director works to complete chemical analyses on the product. In addition, the lab director makes sure the lab and all of its machines are up to code with federal and state regulations.

After the lab director, a quality manager focuses on maintaining product quality. This means the lab director must be one of the first people to implement necessary systems to maintain or improve the quality of the cannabis concentrates. Thirdly, every cannabis lab needs concentrate processors. According to Cannabiz Team Worldwide, the processor converts flower into THC/CBD oil. This process involves using high tech machinery to pull the oil out of each cannabis bud.

Cannabis Products Must Be Packaged According To Each Specific Product

Now that we have created the product, we must package it. This process involves standard management hierarchy, as a VP of Manufacturing oversees the entire packaging operation. Under the VP is the facility manager. This is a much more hands on position as it involves making sure machinery is working correctly, and cannabis professionals are operating correctly as well.

The facility manager focuses on meeting deadlines pertaining to when dispensaries need their product. The final position at this stage is the packager. Simply put, this person focuses on placing the product in its designated box/bag.

Cannabis Retail Involves A Critical Understanding Of Cannabis

At the final stage of the chain, the product ships to dispensaries that work to sell legal grade cannabis to customers and patients. Similar to any retail establishment, dispensaries have a head manager, or VP of Retail. This person oversees the completion of a dispensary’s short and long term sales goals. After the VP, a general manager works specifically to assemble a team and facilitate general store functions.

Finally, budtenders sell the product to customers and provide suggestions and information regarding products. It is important, naturally, that this person knows the product well. After all, it is their responsibility to make sure every customer is getting what they’re looking for. Many customers need recommendations or assistance with picking out their products, so this job is very crucial to making every customer happy.

The cannabis industry is evolving every day and new cannabis jobs continue to pop up everywhere. There is truly a position for every kind of worker in this business, and according cannabis professionals that work in the industry already, it is naturally rewarding work. Whether you are interested in cultivation, processing, or retail, there is a cannabis job made for you.
