Respect My Region EDM Fresh Drops Playlist: New Music From Sullivan King, George IV, and More

The Respect My Region EDM Fresh Drops playlist is our curated electronic dance music playlist. We dig for new EDM every week, looking all the way from Gabber to Garage. On a platform like Spotify, where algorithmic playlists tend to fall short on representation, Fresh Drops seeks to introduce you to fresh DJs with brand-new tracks. Make sure to save our playlist to keep up with what we add every week.

This week there were a lot of new and exciting dubstep tracks out, and making these choices was fairly challenging. Here are five new tracks we’ve added this week to keep your summer going strong.

George IV – Liquid Love

[Progressive Trance]

There’s never much good trance to go around nowadays. George IV’s Liquid Love is a pleasant reminder of the genre’s power. Clocking in at a tempo just outside of house music, this track could pump your blood for you.

George IV uses real-world instrumentation and samples in Liquid Love, turning this upbeat club-grinder onto its acoustic side. Warm electric bass and sharp keyboard mix with electronic drums and synths to create a very enjoyable experience. Be sure to show George IV some love if you like what you’re hearing in the EDM Fresh Drops playlist.

NET GALA – Reclaim  It

[J-Core/Intelligent Dance Music]

Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) is much like wasabi. You don’t want a lot of it in your meal, but a little is most certainly a fine delicacy. IDM in the Fresh Drops playlist is the same way, thus NET GALA is our dab of wasabi for the week.

NET GALA creates remarkable compositions which take influence from many different genres. Reclaim It has the energy of breakcore, but without the Amen breaks, and the melodic potential of contemporary Japanese music without sounding like an anime intro. NET GALA’s sound is one of its own kind, though it can be much likened to British IDM artist Iglooghost to give an example.

Reclaim It is just one track off of NET GALA’s second EP “신파 SHINPA.” If this track sparks your interest, there’s plenty more just like it to check out in this release. Awesome stuff for sure.

Chark, Peloquin – ARTHROLORD

[Dubstep/Deathstep]

Picture a dark and stormy with bass instead of rum. That’s what ARTHROLORD by Chark and Peloquin sounds (and probably tastes) like. The track hardly has any buildup portions either, it cuts right to the first drop before even 30 seconds can pass. Indeed, this isn’t some wishy-washy brostep epic, it’s three minutes of unerring, furious distorted bass, which makes it perfect for our Fresh Drops playlist.

The dark dubstep aesthetic is not uncommon to Chark’s and Peloquin’s styles. Peloquin is a new name, and if you like what this song sounds like then you’d have to be a fool to not check out his other music, specifically the “Kaleidoscopic Obscurity” EP. Chark has a larger following by a couple hundred listeners, and he’s got an already bustling discography. Hit up his “Goetician” release for a nice sampler.

Ivory, Bizo, The Arcturians – Beast

[Brostep]

The Fresh Drops playlist is here to scratch your main stage itch. Tracks like Beast have a huge, immersive soundscape that pulls you in and throws you back out. Ivory, Bizo, and The Arcturians are all engineers of bombastic brostep of this energy and quality, so you can definitely find more like this from their past releases.

Sullivan King – Lock Me Up

[Metal/Hardcore]

Sullivan King never fails to pump out genre-synthesizing bangers. This strange, furious man is taking metal to the rave scene and he’s doing it better than most have in the past. This track isn’t at the end of this list because it’s the weakest. Sullivan King is the biggest name of the week as a matter of fact, and we seldom can resist getting him on the EDM Fresh Drops playlist.

What’s interesting about Sullivan King’s “Lock Me Up” is that it’s definitely a metal song before an EDM song. An infectious chorus and banging riffs met with aggressive synth work are the highlights of this track. Definitely check out the rest of the tracks from LOUD, Sullivan King’s latest full-length, to get a better taste for his sound.
