Excision’s label Subsidia released Subsidia Dusk: Vol 4 last week. The esteemed tearout specialist has been accumulating formidable DJ’s since last year, using the Subsidia name to unite them in the form of these volume releases.
There are three categories for these volume releases. Night is specified for heavy bass and Dawn contains melodic bass. Dusk is the chapter reserved for experimental bass, and volume four absolutely slaps. After listening through the whole album, here’s a couple noteworthy tracks to look out for.

Xotix -The Bounce
Xotix is a curious bunch, a “bass boy band” to be specific This is only the second track on Dusk Vol 4 and according to a wise, venerable music critic (myself), any album that has a lame second track is already a bad release.
Fortunately Dusk Vol 4 does not have to worry about that in the slightest. The Bounce is a riddim masterpiece. At the same time, it clearly takes influence from a couple hip-hop-derived/EDM genres.
This merging of influences is a core objective of Xotix. These three homies proclaim varying music backgrounds that give tracks like The Bounce their distinct sound. If you like this song you should check out their new EP “Fresh.”

Mylky – Bipolar
Certainly an edgy mix, but that serves it well. Mylky presents a dark, sorrowful sound in his track Bipolar that you simply can’t miss. This song uses eerie vocal samples with industrial synths and grainy drums to punch a twilight-shaped hole into your head.
Mylky is a New Zealand-based DJ who’s been pumping out tracks since 2018. He’s no new name, but he’s been on Dusk since Volume 1 and with good reason. Be on the lookout for more mysterious club trips from him like Bipolar.
INHUMAN, OMAS, Les Gold, Snowhite – Rapture
No doubt this track belongs in Dusk Vol 4. Combining the sounds of indie rock band Les Gold with riddim elements on a downtempo BPM, INHUMAN and OMAS have manufactured a unique auditory experience.
This song is significantly more atmospheric by comparison to the last two tracks. Ambient synths mixed with spacey reverb in this make it sound like it’s being performed in a destroyed chapel. Keep an eye out for this one as you’re checking out Subsidia Dusk: Vol 4 for yourself.
