Over the last year we’ve watched 28AV go from promising local star to bubbling national hit maker. Dropping bangers with super stars such as Sada Baby, Tee Grizzley, and Moneybagg Yo. As well as signing with Jay Park’s ‘H1ghr Music,’ he’s solidified himself as a real contender in hip-hop.
His latest project Czarleo dropped a few days ago and is definitely 28AV’s best work to date. The 23-track album has those fan favorites from Sada and Tee but also several dope features and singles, making it the hottest album out of the Northwest this summer.
In his solo track Anchovies we hear voices in the background clamoring about 28AV being the King of Seattle. While he doesn’t necessarily want to claim that title, he’s still at the top of a large list of names competing for it. Either way, you can definitely argue that he’s one of the most popping artists right now from the Northwest.
“Now I Ain’t Beefing With No Rat’s Boy You Sucka’s Can Have That”
28AV possesses a more Midwest sound that we don’t hear a lot in the PNW and it’s paid off for him. Being able to stand out while still connecting with the more wavy vibe that’s popular here. That style got the attention of big players over Mid/Southwest, landing gold standard features such as Moneybagg Yo on Shoota Gang.
Shoota Gang gives us the right energy to start an album with 28AV absolutely spitting over a drill-type beat. Moneybagg does his thing having the beat go dead for a minute, giving us bass with every bar to make it hit just right.
The video for Shoota Gang is another classic hip-hop video with cars, booty shaking girls, and of course 28AV came dripped out. Not a lot of editing tricks just some dope cuts and lighting that get the job done.
While we don’t see a lot of 23-track long albums anymore, Czarleo is definitely worth the listen. Whether you’re already a fan or have never heard of 28AV it’s definitely worth diving into. With a little bit of everything from hard drill/trap, wavy auto-tune hit’s, and even smooth R&B vibes. Czarleo is 28AV’s opening statement to the hip-hop world, and it’s a loud one.
