PNW promoters quickly recognized this duty goes beyond the local music/nightlife industry, choosing to cancel or postpone all events. In order to further slow the spread of COVID-19, many are going the route of virtual festivals.
Their transparent communication with the community and the increasing severity of this global pandemic, the safety of yourself & others must come first. Therefore, it resulted in a complete halt of the industry’s ability to employ its workforce and incurred a major loss of profits, displacement of many Industry Professionals during this critical time.
Immediately, the dance music community came together to show their support and appreciation for these workers & their continued investments into our nightlife. By offering jobs, assisting in applying for ‘workers comp.’ Starting fundraisers for favorite local venues, holding just as much meaning for them. Easing frustrated opinions over cancellations, explaining how important social distancing is going to be for everyone.
As more states adopt and follow Washington’s actions, increased effects of this pandemic are being felt globally. We must lead by example; showing support in our community recognizing this is bigger than any party/concert, this is life or death for some people. Hold others accountable, as a global effort, we’re all in this together.
Safety first, then Support, Party last.
