Dabbling with video content since 2019 via their Canvas feature, Spotify expands these efforts with their new TikTok-like feature, allowing users to discover music in a new, more immersive way.
Lucky Spotify users may have noticed a new tab in the lower toolbar on the app, labeled “Discover.” Clicking the new fourth option will open up a page displaying full-screen music videos to songs on the platform. Users are able to scroll through a feed, similar to TikTok or Instagram Reels, with options to “like” or “skip.” Additionally, a three-dot menu is displayed which pulls up the standard song information sheet.
It is unknown when this feature will roll out to all users, or if it even will. Some people have taken to Twitter to preview this exciting new area of the platform.
TechCrunch states that, from the footage they’ve viewed of the new feature, they can conclude that the videos in the feed are the same as existing Canvas videos. However, Spotify hasn’t confirmed this themselves. Likewise, the streaming giant has not released really any information about this feature whatsoever. Nonetheless, Spotify did leave TechCrunch a brief statement in response to their various questions on the matter.
“At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We don’t have any further news to share at this time.”

This Comes Shortly After Spotify Launches Lyrics
A little over a week ago, Spotify upgraded their scarce and lacking Genius-powered lyric feature. Teaming up with Musixmatch, the majority of Spotify’s library will now have lyrics available to view while streaming songs. This feature is available to all users, unpaid and premium.
Additionally, this feature offers a cool new way to share lyrics. Before sending it off to your friends or social media, you get to select the specific lyrics that you want to share.
