No tricks here, just treats – Rezz has released her Halloween audio/visual mix, titled “Nightmare on Rezz Street.” The 30-minute audio/visual experience is part 3D graphics, part live footage, and altogether awesome. “Nightmare on Rezz Street” comes just a few months after her latest full-length album, Certain Kind of Magic. Rezz has been on tour for the album throughout the fall, making this mix is an especially incredible feat.
The 30-minute continuous mix combines a mix of 3D rendered graphics and live footage. Most of the live footage is from black and white classic horror films, with unique visual overlays and effects woven into them. The animated graphics have a similar style to the ones shown in Rezz’s tour sets. Her visual artist, Cam MacNeill, pulled out all the stops for the mix, creating an immersive experience that flows beautifully with the music.
Not everything about “Nightmare on Rezz Street” turned out perfectly, though. Rezz revealed during a Twitter livestream on Monday morning that Spotify had accidentally released the mix two days early. She expressed gratitude to her fans in the livestream, explaining that they purposefully stayed quiet about the early leak out of respect for Rezz’s release plan.
A collective fan movement to not spread the early leak was incredible at this scale, proving that Rezz’s fans are as dedicated as they come.
Electronic music fans are calling “Nightmare on Rezz Street” an unprecedented feat in today’s EDM industry. The gorgeous visual composition paired with a huge, continuous mix of brand new music is a Halloween treat. You’ll find yourself replaying this mix over and over again.
