Following AEG Presents‘ recent announcement about their new COVID-19 policy, Live Nation has just announced that they are implementing a similar policy for all of its events, venues, and employees. Starting October 4th, Live Nation will be requiring all attendees of their venues and festivals, including artists and staff, to provide proof of full vaccination or a negative test to enter. Previously, Live Nation left this decision up to the artists.
Additionally, Live Nation is requiring all employees to be vaccinated by October 4th to enter any of their events, venues, or offices.
Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to shows, and as of October 4th we will be following the model we developed for Lollapalooza and requiring this for artists, fans and employees at Live Nation venues and festivals everywhere possible in the US.
Michael Rapino, president and CEO of Live Nation
This comes shortly after Live Nation offered $20 tickets for their “Return to Live“
This differs slightly from the AEG Presents policy, which requires full vaccination to enter all venues, festivals, and offices. A negative test will not suffice at AEG’s festivals and venues, including Day N Vegas, Firefly, and NYC’s Webster Hall.
This new policy comes a couple of weeks after one of Live Nation’s largest festivals, Lollapalooza. The Chicago festival attracted almost 400k attendees. It has so far been found that only around 200 cases have been identified from Lolla attendance. This is around .2% of all attendees, with only a quarter of those being vaccinated individuals. The success of this event is partly due to Live Nation’s requirement of full vaccination or a negative test. But it was also thanks to the over 90% of attendees being vaccinated.
