Over the past few years, we’ve seen more music artists than ever get involved with the cannabis industry. The latest to embrace the legality of cannabis is Grant Kwiecinski, who is much better known as GRiZ. The electronic producer and festival-headliner went from part-time weed dealing in his youth in Michigan, to the founder of his own cannabis lines as of this week. The two separate cannabis lines are Telescope and Astro Hippie. The latter is THC-focused and features three flower strains. While Telescope is a CBD-focused line featuring gummies and tinctures.
According to a press release, Astro Hippie is for “experimenters and tokers who want to explore life in maximum color; who want to listen to music that tickles their ears and blows their minds; who want to road trip in a beat-up van and crank mixtapes. It’s a love letter to the weed culture GRiZ grew up in, and a deliberate rebuttal to the pristine, faceless, private equity brands that are sprouting up post-legalization.”

GRiZ Teams Up With Pure Options to Make This Possible
It only makes sense for GRiZ to launch his cannabis line in his home state of Michigan. In fact, he is entering the market at a crucial time as adult-use cannabis has just been legalized in Michigan in 2018. The Southfield native teams up with cannabis cultivator Pure Options to make this possible. The two lines are available at 31 retailers throughout lower Michigan.
This is Not GRiZ’s First Experience Selling Weed
This is certainly not GRiZ’s first experience with weed. He opens up to Billboard about his past experience selling cannabis in high school and college. GRiZ states, “I was always selling weed throughout high school and college. It was my way to try and make ends meet. I was still doing restaurant jobs at the time, too, but I really loved selling weed. Building connections with suppliers and customers, learning about how to run a business, and s—, it wasn’t bad that I loved the product I sold.”
This is something that I’m really proud of. It’s the weed I smoke, for the people I love—and that’s you!

GRiZ joins a long list of other musicians that have their own cannabis lines. This includes Jay-Z, Soulja Boy, Tee Grizzley, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Travis Scott, YG, Quavo, Rick Ross, Method Man, and many more.
