San Holo dropped his latest single off of his first full-length album album1 on Monday, with a track titled “Surface.” San Holo is one of EDM’s hottest new artists, set to release his first full-length album this year. “Surface” is yet another testament to the artist’s versatility and unique style.
“Surface” is a captivating, dreamy track with heavy synth carefully layered on top of a delicate melody. The track features the post-rock band Caspian, who confirmed on their Twitter that it is their first collaboration for a track.
Speaking about the track on his Twitter, San Holo says:
“it’s definitely one of the most emotional songs i’ve ever produced and i hope it touches you deeply let me know what goes through your head listening to this one “
It’s certainly easy to get lost in your mind listening to “Surface”. The track carries a similar vibe to the insanely popular Seven Lions remix of Tritonal’s “Still With Me” featuring Cristina Soto.
If you’re looking for a graceful, elegant track to delve into, “Surface” is what you’ve been looking for. The collaboration with Caspian adds a unique touch, stepping outside the typical realm of dance collaborations to include a rock band. The addition of traditional band instruments doesn’t seem at all out of place or jarring in the track, due to San Holo’s expert production talent and the beautiful work done by Caspian.
Overall, “Surface” is yet another indication that album1 will be widely regarded as a work of art. The album is scheduled to drop September 21st.
