New Music For The Weekend Ft. Alison Wonderland, Jeremih, Tory Lanez, + Logic

Just as I was typing up an article about Tory Lanez’s new album, it seemed as if every artist just decides to announce new musical releases. I’ve decided to be time efficient and make an article that briefly talks about and covers all these newest releases.

Tory Lanez – Memories Don’t Die

In my opinion, Tory Lanez is one of the most overlooked artists in hip-hop. He exceeds the rapper label and sings hooks and choruses on tracks. When I Told You dropped in 2016, that was all I had on repeat for two weeks. I spent that time breaking down the songs, from lyrics to production. The album had a seamless transition from track to track with skits and audios. That still holds true in Memories Don’t Die, as Lanez continues to paint out a story for the listeners with the transitional skits. This album is a deeper dive into who Tory Lanez is and what he has been through. His thoughts and feelings are transparent and transcribed in his lyrics.

Lanez was calling as many fans as he could who pre-ordered the album to reciprocate the love that they’ve been showing him.

I’ve been listening to this album for a week straight, yet I still can’t decide which tracks are my favorite. My personal choice for tracks is interchangeable with honorable mentions depending on my mood. I can only recommend you to listen to it yourself and decide which are your favorites.

Stream the album here.

The Neighbourhood – The Neighbourhood

The Neighbourhood released a self-titled album, including singles from a while ago, such as “Scary Love” and “Nervous.” My personal favorites are “Flowers,” “Sadderdaze,” and “You Get Me So High.” Their album is very groovy and full of festival vibes. It’s the perfect album to put on on a Sunday.

They also released a video for “Scary Love”.

Logic – Bobby Tarantino II

Logic has been releasing tracks these last couple of weeks including “44 More” and “Everyday,” featuring Marshmello, which are both on the mixtape. The night before, he gave his fans a very short heads up as he posted this announcement tweet for Bobby Tarantino II. The Rick and Morty trailer turns out to be the very first intro track. My favorite tracks are “Yuck,” “Wussup” and “44 More.”

The mixtape includes other features from Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, and Big Sean. If you’d like to read more about Bobby Tarantino II, another member of RMR wrote about the article which you can find here. To stream the project, click here.

Alison Wonderland – Awake

Her last album, Run, was released nearly three years ago in 2015. Alison Wonderland, the Australian DJ, made an album announcement with this creative and hilarious video along with screenshots of the tracklist.

The album features Trippie Redd, Buddy, Chief Keef, and SLUMBERJACK, and is set to release in April. From the album, “Church,” “No,” and “Happy Place” have been released. My favorites so far are “Happy Place,” and “Good Enough” (she played it live last time in Seattle). I’m personally very excited to listen to this album in its entirety and see how much Alison has grown and progressed.

You can listen to the released tracks and pre-order the album here, and she’ll be back in Seattle (WaMu) on August 10th (tickets here).

Jeremih – Heart Shaped Box

Jeremih is basically the king of R&B, plus he created iconic hits from Late Nights (personally, I’m not a big fan of Late Nights: Europe). His smooth voice can help him slide into anyone’s pants. On this EP, Jeremih has not lost his charm as he continues to serenade his listeners. My personal favorite is “Cards Right.”
