The Las Vegas Raiders have watched a 3–0 start turn into a three-game losing streak. Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams offers an opportunity to recover, but getting back above .500 will require better execution in the situations that have decided their recent losses.
Las Vegas enters Week 7 at 3–3, while Los Angeles arrives at 2–4. The Rams have dropped consecutive games, giving both teams reason to view this afternoon at Allegiant Stadium as an important chance to change direction.
As we covered in RMR’s Raiders–Bills recap, Las Vegas produced enough offense to stay competitive against Buffalo before falling 33–30. That performance makes the next step clear: turn scoring opportunities into touchdowns and give the defense fewer chances to surrender the deciding possession.

Kirk Cousins and the Raiders Must Finish Drives
Kirk Cousins and the passing offense have given Las Vegas opportunities to win. Against Buffalo, however, the Raiders scored touchdowns on only two of five red-zone possessions. Head coach Klint Kubiak also made an offensive-line adjustment, inserting Caleb Rogers at right guard in place of Jackson Powers-Johnson.
Those details matter against a Rams team capable of making an offense work for its points. Las Vegas cannot assume that another productive afternoon between the 20-yard lines will produce a different result.
The Raiders need manageable third downs, cleaner blocking near the goal line and answers when the field gets compressed. That puts particular attention on how Kubiak uses Brock Bowers: moving him across formations, creating favorable coverage assignments and making defenders account for him before the snap.
Tre Tucker provides a different threat. His ability to stretch the field can create room underneath, but Las Vegas needs those opportunities to complement sustained possessions. Asking Cousins to repeatedly rescue drives with difficult downfield throws leaves little margin for an early penalty or missed assignment.
Ashton Jeanty Needs More Room to Work
The Raiders’ rushing performance against Buffalo illustrated how difficult the offense becomes when the ground game stalls. Ashton Jeanty finished with 22 yards on 10 carries, although he scored his first rushing touchdown of the season.
For Sunday, the priority should be improving the quality of those carries.
A successful rushing attack does more than produce a respectable final total. Four or five yards on first down lets Kubiak keep the playbook open. It creates more credible play-action opportunities and reduces the number of obvious passing situations Cousins must navigate.
Jeanty needs blocking that allows him to make his first meaningful decision beyond the line of scrimmage. If defenders are consistently meeting him in the backfield, increasing his workload alone will not solve the problem.
Las Vegas also needs flexibility if Mike Washington Jr. cannot play. His availability affects how the Raiders distribute carries and manage the physical demands on their backfield.
Matthew Stafford Still Presents a Difficult Assignment
The Rams’ record should not encourage Las Vegas to overlook their offense.
Los Angeles entered the week averaging 401.3 yards per game, third in the NFL. Matthew Stafford had thrown for a league-leading 1,794 yards, giving Sean McVay an experienced quarterback capable of attacking coverage mistakes throughout a game.
The Raiders’ defensive challenge starts before the throw. They need to communicate through motion, recognize changing formations and avoid leaving easy completions available when Stafford gets the ball out quickly.
Pressure matters, but it must come with disciplined coverage. A blitz that leaves a receiver uncovered offers Stafford an immediate answer. A pass rush that forces him to hold the ball while defenders maintain their assignments gives Las Vegas a better chance of ending possessions.
The Raiders should also be prepared for McVay to adjust around his available personnel. Los Angeles does not need every preferred receiving option healthy to build an effective passing plan.
Raiders vs. Rams Injury Report
The Raiders’ final Friday injury report listed Bowers and left tackle Kolton Miller without game designations after both practiced fully Thursday and Friday.
Washington was questionable with foot and back injuries. For Los Angeles, Puka Nacua was questionable with a calf injury, cornerback Trent McDuffie was questionable with a groin injury and linebacker Nate Landman was ruled out with a concussion.
Nacua’s status carries particular weight because Davante Adams is already on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. His availability could substantially change the receiving options Stafford has against the Raiders.
If McDuffie is unavailable or limited, Las Vegas should test how the Rams handle receiver movement and coverage exchanges. Landman’s absence also makes the middle of the field worth watching when Bowers releases into his routes.
Final inactive lists will determine which of those possibilities become actual matchup advantages.
Three Matchups That Could Decide Sunday
Brock Bowers Against the Rams’ Underneath Coverage
Bowers can help Las Vegas sustain possessions without requiring Cousins to hold the ball for long stretches. The Raiders should look for opportunities to get him moving into open space and force defenders to tackle after the catch.
Raiders Run Blocking Against Los Angeles’ Front
Jeanty needs usable running lanes early. If Las Vegas repeatedly faces second-and-long, the Rams can defend the passing game with fewer concerns about the run.
Raiders Coverage Discipline Against Stafford
Las Vegas needs to make Stafford complete contested throws. Giving away easy yards through missed assignments or poor tackling would allow the Rams to control possessions even with an unsettled receiving group.
Raiders vs. Rams Odds and Sportsbook Context
The opening odds reported by Silver and Black Pride listed FanDuel’s Rams–Raiders market as follows:
| Market | Opening snapshot reported October 18 |
|---|---|
| Spread | Rams −5.5 / Raiders +5.5 |
| Total | 47.5 points |
| Moneyline | Rams −250 / Raiders +205 |
These are dated opening prices, rather than a guaranteed current offer.
FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM give this matchup a broader sportsbook conversation, but comparing markets requires checking the actual spread, price and availability in the bettor’s jurisdiction. A Raiders ticket at +5.5 carries different implications from one at +3.5.
For the football analysis, the central question is whether Las Vegas can finish enough possessions to keep pace. Nacua’s availability and the Raiders’ rushing efficiency could both influence how this game develops.
Planning a Raiders Game Day in Las Vegas
For visiting fans, stadium access should be part of the hotel decision.
Mandalay Bay, Luxor and W Las Vegas form part of MGM Resorts’ Fan District, which offers nearby options for meals, pregame gatherings and a base for the weekend. Compare the full room cost, parking arrangements and walking route before booking.
The Allegiant Stadium transportation guide identifies the Hacienda Bridge as the preferred pedestrian approach from Las Vegas Boulevard. Fans should allow extra time for event traffic, security screening and the walk to their assigned entrance.
For anyone watching elsewhere in the city, confirm that the venue will carry the game with sound and whether seating requires a reservation.
RMR Prediction: Rams 24, Raiders 31
Las Vegas has a realistic path to winning this game. Better red-zone execution, productive early carries from Jeanty and consistent involvement for Bowers would give Cousins enough support to challenge Los Angeles.
The concern is whether the Raiders can deliver all three while getting the defensive stops they need.
Our pick is the Rams in a close game, with Stafford and McVay producing one more successful scoring possession. Las Vegas can reverse that outcome by finishing drives and forcing Los Angeles to earn its yards without coverage breakdowns.
