Gundam fans officially have another major date to circle on the 2027 calendar. After making one of the more surprising Gundam announcements of the year, Bandai Namco has confirmed that Gundam Rogue Orbit will launch on March 5, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The release date was revealed alongside a new trailer that gives us our best look yet at the upcoming action game, including more of the Gundam Helix, new characters, Mobile Suit customization, and a mysterious black Mobile Suit with glowing red eyes. This definitely is designed to hurt the wallets of Gunpla collectors.
Bandai Namco has opened preorders for several versions of the game, including the Collector’s Edition for a $159.99 in the United States. The Collector’s Edition comes with an exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 Gundam Helix Earth Blue Ver. Gunpla. According to Bandai Namco’s store, this version of the kit is only available with the game bundle. As someone who already collects Gundam kits, seeing an exclusive Gunpla included immediately makes this one much harder for me to pass up. But beyond the collectibles, the newest Gundam Rogue Orbit reveal is finally giving us a much clearer picture of what Bandai Namco Studios is cooking.

Gundam Rogue Orbit Introduces A New Gundam Universe
Rather than adapting one of Gundam’s established anime series, Gundam Rogue Orbit is introducing players to an original universe built around humanity’s battle against a mysterious threat known as the Apocalypse. Players step into the cockpit as RE-X, an ace pilot controlling the ARK-10 Gundam Helix.
RE-X isn’t completely alone inside the machine. Accompanying the pilot is Vii, a Haro unit built specifically for the Gundam Helix that serves as an intelligent assistant throughout the journey. Together, they become part of humanity’s fight against the Apocalypse as the story moves across planets and into space.
Bandai Namco describes the game as a high mobility action experience built around fast cinematic combat. The new trailer reinforces that direction, showing the Gundam Helix rapidly moving between enemies while fighting across large environments on the ground and in the air. The newest footage even teases drastically different appearances for the Helix, adding another layer for fans who want to make the machine their own. For Gundam fans who want another game centered heavily on piloting and customizing a Mobile Suit, Gundam Rogue Orbit is looking increasingly promising.
One of the new characters is Sofia, a mysterious young woman who appears to be closely monitoring RE-X’s actions. There’s also April, captain of the Stellarvane, an independent special duty vessel conducting operations against the Apocalypse.
Then things get a little more colorful.
Big Paul leads a group of sand pirates who simultaneously hunt the Apocalypse while raiding wealthy transports and redistributing those supplies to settlers. Elaine, meanwhile, is a knight commander and highly skilled Mobile Suit pilot who leads her forces directly from the battlefield. These characters suggest Rogue Orbit won’t simply move players from one combat arena into another. Bandai Namco is positioning the game as a narrative driven Gundam experience, with alliances, factions, and conflicts developing alongside the larger mystery surrounding the Apocalypse.
And then there is that black Mobile Suit. The latest trailer briefly shows a mysterious dark machine with glowing red eyes. Bandai Namco isn’t giving away its identity yet, but Gundam has a very long history of rival Mobile Suits becoming some of the most memorable machines in their respective stories. I’m already curious to see what this thing actually is.
Gundam Helix Can Be Built Around Your Playstyle
Customization appears to be one of the biggest parts of Gundam Rogue Orbit. Players will be able to modify their Mobile Suit with different weapons, frames, thrusters, and Apocalypse Units, also known as AP-U.
Players can also change color schemes, and loadouts can also be changed, giving them more control over how their version of the Gundam Helix looks and fights. Weapons aren’t simply cosmetic swaps either.
Different weapons come with their own actions and skills, allowing players to build combat strategies around their preferred style. Bandai Namco says combat will let players dash across expansive battlefields and transition between ground and aerial attacks. That flexibility could become one of the game’s biggest strengths.
Gundam has always been centered on Mobile Suits that can be modified, upgraded, damaged, rebuilt, and adapted for different missions. Making customization a core part of the gameplay gives Gundam Rogue Orbit a chance to capture some of the appeal that makes Gunpla and Mobile Suit design such a massive part of Gundam culture.

Customization is just the start. Players can take things even further with Gundam Helix designs inspired by iconic Mobile Suits from across the Gundam franchise. The latest trailer shows the Gundam Helix taking on a familiar look inspired by the legendary RX-78-2 Gundam, along with a red Zaku inspired design that immediately brings Char Aznable to mind.
These designs give longtime Gundam fans another way to bring some familiar looks into Gundam Rogue Orbit while still piloting the new Gundam Helix. By pre ordering the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition, players can take the customization even further with three Premium MOD skins based on Freedom Gundam, Gundam Barbatos, and Wing Gundam Zero.
Gundam Rogue Orbit Has Multiple Editions
Players who don’t need another Gunpla taking over their shelf have several other options.
The Standard Edition includes the base game. The Deluxe Edition adds the Mission Reward Booster, Mobile Suit Color Pack, Premium MOD Skins Set, and Digital Artwork & Music Selection.

The Gundam Helix Collector’s Edition Comes With An Exclusive Gunpla
This is probably where a lot of Gundam collectors will lose their restraint. The U.S. Gundam Rogue Orbit Collector’s Edition is priced at $159.99 through Bandai Namco’s official store and includes an exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 Gundam Helix in its Earth Blue color scheme. Bandai describes it as a 15 centimeter special color version of the HG Gundam Helix, and the company specifically states that this Gunpla is only available as part of the game bundle. You can pre order the Collector’s Edition here while supplies last.
For anyone unfamiliar with Gunpla grades, High Grade kits are generally one of the easiest entry points into Gundam model building. They’re 1/144 scale and offer a strong mix of articulation, detail, and accessibility without the larger commitment of some higher grade kits. For existing collectors, the bigger attraction here is the exclusivity.
The Earth Blue Gundam Helix gives Gundam Rogue Orbit something physical that connects directly to its new Mobile Suit before the game has even launched. The Collector’s Edition also includes a steel case featuring an exclusive Gundam Helix blueprint, an 11×17 poster, reversible cover art, five Gundam Card Game promotional card designs, and the Digital Deluxe content.
That digital content includes the Premium MOD Skins Set, Mission Reward Booster, Digital Artwork & Music Selection, and a Mobile Suit Color Pack containing 14 colors.

March 2027 Can’t Come Soon Enough
We still don’t know much about Gundam Rogue Orbit, but every new reveal makes the project super interesting. Bandai Namco Studios is building an original Gundam universe rather than leaning entirely on characters and Mobile Suits fans already know. The Gundam Helix has a distinct identity, the Apocalypse remains a major mystery, and the customization system could give players a real reason to experiment with their machine instead of settling on a single loadout.
Fast ground movement, aerial combat, customizable equipment, unique weapon skills, and large battlefields could give Rogue Orbit the type of Mobile Suit action Gundam gaming fans have been waiting for.
