Late last year on December 27th, Former President Donald Trump signed a bill called the “Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act,” also known as The Vape Mail Ban. The vape shipping ban bill was put into place to protect children from ordering E-Cigarettes online. This came after the rise in underage teens illegally obtaining JUUL pods and other vape products.
While buying vape products in person always requires an ID, ordering such products online can be a different story. Because of the mistakes of young teens all over the country, vape companies and of-age vapers have been greatly affected by the new guidelines put in place. They will no longer be able to order any vape products online, in all 50 states.
With a device as slick and convenient as the JUUL, and with flavors such as Mango and Creme Brulee, underage teens across the country became hooked, and in waves. Once recognized, JUUL attempted to fix the problem by removing all vape flavors besides Mint and Tobacco. But this just led to an even bigger issue. Teens resulted in buying their vape products from untrusted third-party and black market dealers. These products often contained THC to enhance the feeling, and even dangerous additives to cut costs.
The effects of these products slowly started surfacing, and it seemed almost every day there was another teen sick in the hospital, or even losing their lives. This sparked a lot of controversy surrounding vape products, but the truth soon came out. It wasn’t reliable companies who were creating harmful products, but third-party and black market dealers. But this didn’t matter. The media and parents all around the country continued to slander vape products and demand that action be taken. Former President Trump responded quickly with the PACT Act.
How Will This Ban Affect Me As A Vape Consumer?
This ban has an effect on vape consumers all across the country. Many stores stopped selling flavored vape products around the time that JUUL stopped selling their flavored products. This was put into place to prevent the appeal of non-smokers to get into vaping. But because of this, many vape consumers relied on ordering their preferred products online.
Now that they are unable to do this, they will have to purchase what is available. Which are only Menthol and Tobacco flavored products. Many vape consumers switched to vaping to stop their smoking habit, but with only Menthol and Tobacco available this may lead them back to purchasing tobacco products.
