“Other than Drake or Tory Lanez or The Weeknd, they think we don’t have any other rappers, but Swagger Rite’s here so we lit.”

Weston Road Flows
Swagger Rite comes out of Toronto, but more specifically, Southside Weston Road/Jane Street. Growing up, Swagger Rite recalls that living in Toronto “ain’t nothin’ sweet,” and is easily skewed that the city is “soft.” He makes it a mission to represent the hardships that he went through: losing friends to the harshness of the streets, being locked up, growing up with a single mom raising six kids, and the harassment from police.
All of this shines through in his music and the transparency of his social media pages. He uses his voice to influence those who are in the same position of feeling trapped in the hood that you don’t have to be trapped, and with the right mindset, you can get out and be successful in this industry as an artist from Toronto.
“People say…as an artist in Toronto you’ll never make it outta here ya know?… People die, or just give up on their self, and a lot of artists start to believe that because realistically, it’s just a cycle ya know?”
Where Does the Name Swagger Rite Come From?
Swagger Rite got his name from an early age because of his unique and catchy style of clothing. While most of his friends and peers around him wore Jordan’s, he was rocking designer clothing and they became fascinated with that: “They were like ‘Yo Swagger right shawty!’ And it just stuck.”
While his demeanor is down to earth and likable, Swagger Rite’s character represents confidence, and a little bit of cockiness, but in a good way. It’s one of those “I need this in the moment” kinds of confidence that everyone needs from time to time.
Accolades
The Toronto artist first got on the music scene in 2016 when he dropped his mixtape P.O.M.E (Product Of My Environment) and then released his debut album, The Swagged Out Pedestrian, in 2019.
