Snails has been killing the game recently with top-notch sets and some amazing collaborative releases, and his newest track, “Follow Me” is anything but boring. “Follow Me” is a collaboration between Snails and electronic duo Adventure Club.
Their styles are a difficult mix. Snails usually has a heavy dubstep style, while Adventure Club often use melodic, graceful structure in their tracks. Add Canadian vocalist Sara Diamond into the mix, and you’ve certainly got a unique blend of talent.
The blend of Snails and Adventure Club is interesting to say the least. “Follow Me” is structured with the heaviest drop first, which is unusual. The first and heaviest drop is definitely the work of Snails – it’s a filthy, gritty drop that’s heavily dubstep-inspired.
The second half of the track and second drop are definitely more Adventure Club’s style. Their focus on melody and creating a smooth, suspenseful drop is clearly showcased in the second half. After the second drop, the track seems to drop off abruptly. It almost sounds as if it needed a longer closing portion to tie the two parts of the track together.
Overall, this is a track worth listening to, though it may not be a favorite of either artists’ fans. “Follow Me” isn’t Snails’ best collaboration, but it was a fantastic shot. Partnering with Adventure Club was certainly a risk, given their very different style.
