Freshly home from Spokane, the Respect My Region squad loaded up and hit I-5 south towards Portland. Since we previously had explored the cannabis scene in the 509, we wanted to check out what our sister city to the south had to offer. Only one store, Serra, offered a truly luxurious experience for buying cannabis.
We visited the downtown location which felt like we were in an expensive boutique shop. Separated from the sales floor by a clear glass wall, guests check in with the front desk upon arrival. Once you pass through the door to the sales floor, you can see all of the non-traditional cannabis products on display. These non-traditional cannabis products consist of topicals, edibles, concentrates, and other non-flower forms of marijuana.
Up on the wall, a trestle of ivy holds a neon sign that reads “Quality Drugs.” That’s their motto, and they mos’ definitely uphold that slogan. The way that they display their quality cannabis was unique and something you don’t get to see here in Washington.
Oregon still has the ability to let you see and smell the weed that you are buying. For each strain in their extensive collection, a single nug or two is placed on a tray with it’s cannabinoid breakdown, and prices are listed for you to see. Serra has a unique way of organizing their weed too, by feelings. Each strain gets a symbol to represent the main feeling you will get from the high.

They had an incredible variety of different strains of cannabis. A lot of the flavors were surprisingly new to me, we couldn’t get those in Washington.
The way that the store is laid out you walk around the corner from the front desk, and the checkout counter is located next to the exit door. Overall the store has a natural flow, warming environment, and incredibly nice and knowledgeable budtenders ready to help find the perfect product for you.
