Among the string of dance artists announcing new labels this month, the group RÜFÜS DU SOL have announced their new label, called Rose Avenue. The label’s first single under the name is a dreamy, synth-heavy track titled “Lafayette” by the Australian producer Cassian.
RÜFÜS DU SOL are the latest in a string of dance artist labels that have announced a new record label. Kayzo made the announcement on social media earlier this week that he would be starting Welcome Records. The next day, Kygo announced a partnership with Sony Music Entertainment for his new label, called Palm Tree Records.
Needless to say, it’s been a busy week on the business side of dance. RÜFÜS DU SOL, not to be buried under the avalanche of announcements, released a killer first single for the label. The track, “Lafayette”, has a distinct 80s vibe, reckoning back to the synth-pop era of decades ago. The track has a similar vibe to The Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me” and aha’s “Take On Me.”
“Lafayette”‘s dreamy, artistic sound is easy to get lost in, and you’ll find yourself hitting repeat once it’s finished. The track does the name of Rose Avenue proud as the label’s first single.
