It hurts me to say this because I love USC Events and all the shows they put on, but I really didn’t enjoy the show as much as I thought I would. I can’t place any blame on USC, who’s effort was marvelous yet again. As usual, the production and the lineup was was nothing short of spectacular and there was nothing they did that I didn’t like overall.
My issue was with the vibe from the crowd.
For my first ever Resolution, it seemed like this was more of a “cool kids party.” I’ve never been to a USC Events show where so many people were pushing through people, fighting, or arguing over groups of girls. It was truly hard for me to enjoy the show with so many people focused on the partying aspect of this particular event.
Where was the PLUR Seattle?
All distractions aside, when I was able to actually focus on the music and incredible productions, things were quite alright. Slushii’s Seattle debut was absolutely amazing and my head was literally all over the place. Yellow Claw was also in the building and brought a thunderous New Years Eve feel with never-ending airhorns and a crowd that was already basically rioting.

I also got to see two of my favorite artists, Tritonal and Above & Beyond. Watching from the VIP section near the stands, I was able to catch a few of my favorite songs and saw many of the realest A&B fans out there with tears in their eyes. I may or may not have been one of them.
These guys certainly went out of their way to make that set extremely special for Seattle. It had been a while since I’d seen them last but they were just as incredible as I remembered them to be. USC chose the perfect artist to perform during the countdown and Above & Beyond chose one of my favorite songs to play at midnight, “Blue Sky Action.”
As the timer went down, hundreds of balloons dropped on top of us and the whole room lit up. It was at this moment that I felt a major sense of relief as 2016 finally came to a close.
