Qreepz x TeZATalks Collaborate On New Track "My Own Thing"

Listen To New Single From Qreepz x TeZATalks “My Own Thing”

As I was perched on a stool inside the Octopus Bar in Wallingford, a familiar name pops up in my email. Regularly spinning records at that very bar is DJ/producer Qreepz, so it’s an eerie coincidence that his new single with TeZATalks would show up in my inbox. I popped on my headphones to listen to the new track “My Own Thing” from the collaboration Qreepz x TeZATalks.

Both of these artists bring their unique perspective to the track. Qreepz always soaks his beats in a dark aura where every thump and bump seems mischievous. TeZA adds her own mystery with a rough voice that speaks with a depth of life experience.

The world can sometimes make us feel like we don’t belong. In my darkest days, I find the Light. In my loneliest hours, I remember you and in a society where I’m taught to compare and be the same I fearlessly say, ” I’ll do my own thing.”

I can hear many different cultural influences throughout the track. An Asian influence from what sounds like a Koto being sampled adds an intriguing flair for the listener’s ears. Meanwhile, TeZA has a flow that gives off essences of dancehall and the roots of some of hip-hop’s forefathers, Jamaica. A piece of pure poetry, you can read her lyrics and listen to the track on Bandcamp.
