Kenny Dumetz and Jason Mejia, the founders, are cannabis aficionados. The business name Powerzzzup is self-explanatory and quirky; it originates from that moment cannabis may knock you out into a deep sleep, hence the “zzz.”

It All Started with a Bit of Flower
Kenny was first introduced to the euphoric sleeping power of weed in California when a nice lesbian couple in the neighborhood shared a bit of flower with him. It sparked a passion for weed. Then, his cousin threw a party and that’s where he met his future business partner, Jason.
“I would always get fire weed from his cousin. His cousin just had the best strains, the best weed around,” Jason told L.A. Weekly in an interview.
“Yes, because he got it from me,” Kevin replied, tongue-in-cheek.
Jason’s interest was more scientific, and he researched the cannabis industry extensively, educating himself on legislation, processes, and breeding. He began making his own strain mixes.
“So then when I decided to start messing around, I had just stocked up hella bag seeds. I didn’t have any Durban but mostly Pie and Cookies bag seed. And when I started growing, I started off in a small situation that was one light. Just to try and feed the habit, right? That just turned into two lights and just got addictive.”
Through this kind of experimentation, he created strains like Snowman.
