NxWorries, the superduo consisting of Anderson .Paak and producer Knxwledge are back with their first single in six years. The long-awaited song, “Where I Go,” has a feature from the popular singer, H.E.R.
Anderson .Paak has already had a monumental career and his impact only got bigger in the last two years. Silk Sonic, a 70s soul-inspired duo including himself and Bruno Mars, released “Leave the Door Open,” which was undoubtedly the biggest song of 2021. Later on, they released their album An Evening with Silk Sonic. Both the album and the song were inescapable and had the world on lock for a year straight.
He is now back working with the producer Knxwledge on a new single telling a story based on a relationship with trust issues. The main chorus consists of “She wanna know where I’ve been, and who I seen. She wanna know where I’m goin’, and can we meet. She say I’m so terrible, but this is me. I love her from head to toe, and in between.” He’s wondering why she’s questioning him, but she has every right to. H.E.R. follows up with her verse with an intuition that he’s unfaithful but doesn’t want to believe it. The song’s instrumental is very laid back with smooth vocals telling the story while riding along with the beat.
The video teaser dropped on Tuesday via Anderson’s Instagram and released the following day in conjunction with the single. Originally the duo leaked the song during a live performance at Double Happiness 2020. Fans have been eager to get their hands on this track ever since. Two years later, we finally get the music video.
In the video, H.E.R. plays as the female counterpart, clinging onto Anderson and their lavish and happy lifestyle. Come to find out he had been cheating. She finds out after seeing her number come up on his pager. She then called the side chick to learn everything. In the end, Anderson throws her a surprise party, which didn’t go nearly as planned, as H.E.R. flips the cake and walks out.
Overall, the song and video are great. The music video adds more context to the single to help tell the story, which makes it better overall. I cannot wait to hear what their next full-length project sounds like.
