Northwest Flow: Elevate with PNW’s Finest Hip-Hop

Another week has come to channel the essence of the hip-hop scene. Capturing that special northwest flow, PNW Rising unveils the latest and greatest tracks from the artists shaping the rap narrative of the area. Come along as we showcase the talent and creativity that sets this region’s hip-hop apart.

Mafi D “Get That Feeling”

Central District native, Mafi D, raps heavy about grief in the fifth track of his freshly released album. Grief goes hand in hand with depression in the lyrics as they do in real life. He gets real about how challenging it can be just to get up for the day, but Mafi D pushes through it all and stays showing up for those he cares about.

Victoria Yabut “Venom”

The hi-hats and baseline make for such a dope beat in Yabut’s “Venom.” The bars about someone speaking on you like you’re a villain when they don’t even know you are so clever. Victoria Yabut keeps speaking the truth about dealing with the bs in her verses. Essentially, it doesn’t matter if you go out or stay in, you just need to have a good time with your circle and block out the noise.

Icy Ike “North By Northwest”

This wordsmith lays down the lyrics real smooth in his track about his devotion to the hustle. Not everyone can hack it in the hip-hop game, but Icy Ike is here to tell you he’s not one of those people. Despite what people say about him, he knows he’s bound to do great things in his career, and we can see it too.

Livio “1pm In Georgetown”

High-pitched, choir-like vocals kick off “1pm in Georgetown” with a jazzy piano that make for a laidback groove. Livio’s rap contrasts but also compliments these background sounds to give a really unique delivery. His words come across nice and slow to really make you pay attention to them, and the Drake sample is a fire touch.

Young Neves “Let Me Bleed”

Not afraid to admit his own faults, Young Neves speaks on the mistakes he’s made but makes sure he learns from. Keeping up with that northwest flow, he also gets raw about his struggles with mental wellness and the hardships he’s been through in life. One thing is for sure, Young Neves plans to embrace his demons in order to overcome them.

EMB FLAME “In My Feels”

Wearing his heart on his sleeve, EMB FLAME goes in about how he gave his all to someone that’s no longer in his life anymore. ‘The Godfather’ also shows off his range by knowing how to effortlessly switch back and forth from rapping to melodic vocals. He seems like a true romantic at heart because despite the heartbreak, he can still remember and appreciate the good times.

Jose g “Recap”

Hailing from Yakima, Jose g serves some serious rhymes about knowing the difference between what serves him and what doesn’t. Regardless of who’s done him wrong, he keeps things chill and takes it all as a lesson. Above all, he knows his craft and his genuine supporters (shout out to Whois_JG) will lead him to greatness.

Wavy Josef & GOODBYECALEV so we made an EP…

Hip-hop maestro has teamed up with GOODBYECALEV to make such a poppin’ project. Pun intended, this collaboration is such a fly vibe that can put you in a trance with just the easy-going beats alone. Now, the lyrics are also something to be impressed with as the execution is so consistently smooth and slick. Whoever these songs might be about, I’d be swooning if I were them right about now.
