With social media has come a pretty much endless amount of trends and challenges. Some are completely harmless, but some are certainly questionable when it comes to safety. The Milk Crate Challenge was definitely the latter.
The challenge originated on August 1st on Facebook, according to Know Your Meme. It consists of upwards of 49 milk crates that are stacked to make steps going up and then back down (where the hell is everyone getting these milk crates??). Then, participants walk up to the top and then back down. The participant inevitably wobbles because the crates aren’t stable, and more often than not, the participant ends up falling.
Not even a month into the challenge circulating around the internet, TikTok has banned it. This isn’t surprising as there have been many injuries that have stemmed from it. Many participants have ended up in the hospital as well.

Though TikTok wasn’t the original platform the Milk Crate Challenge went viral on, it undoubtedly fostered the spread of it. This led to major popularity across the whole internet. It seemed like almost every social platform contained versions of this challenge. Famous people have tried it out, normal people have attempted it, even police officers have taken a shot. But, there was one group of people that seemed to especially love it- rappers.
