Meek Mill Releases Powerful New Album ‘Expensive Pain’ Featuring Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, A$AP Ferg, and More

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill has just released his fifth studio album, Expensive Pain, and it goes harder than a statue. His flow versatility really popped out on both the faster and slower beats proving that Meek Mill can do it all.

Even Meek’s former rival, Drake, is excited about the new album. Last Thursday, Drake posted: “Pain gets expensive at midnight!!” on his Instagram Story to shout out the album’s release.

Expensive Pain is Meek Mill’s first album since Championships released in 2018. However, he continued to stay busy with a string of EPs and standalone singles including, “Letter to Nipsey” with Roddy Ricch, “Otherside of America,” and “Believe” with Justin Timberlake.

“We in 2021, I’m going to stand on Expensive Pain, I’m going to stand on my talent, and I’m going to remain confident and hope that people pay attention to what’s going on because they got a long way to go.”

You’d think there are unlisted features by how Meek Mill changes his flow throughout the album. His lyrics in Expensive Pain say it’s because he’s been “winnin’ a long time, I know they sick of me.” From mumble-rap to sultry lyricism, this album showcases many popular rap styles, featuring Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Kehlani, Lil Baby, A$AP Ferg, and Moneybagg Yo to name a few. The album also includes recently released tracks “Blue Notes 2” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, “Sharing Locations” featuring Lil Durk and Lil Baby, and “Flamerz Flow” as a bonus track.

The album’s message is consistent with lyrics about the rapper’s rise, fall, struggles, and revivals. While his flow switch-up and features allows the album to sound diverse.

Overall the album is fire. It can be listened to under a lot of occasions because of the fast and slow beats. “Ride For Me” is a great slower song for getting ready for a date. Conversely, “Intro (Hate on Me),” “Hot,” “Northside,” and “Me (FWM)” are great for the gym or driving on the highway because the beats are fast and furious.
