Liberty Reach is one of thirteen Marijuana operations in Raymond, Washington. A town with a rich history of logging and fishing, the community has really suffered due to strict regulations on timber harvesting. Their two-story building houses roughly 13,000 plants with multiple rooms for flowering and vegetation.
I pulled up to an unsuspecting building right next to a fish processing plant. When I got out of my car the combination of weed and fish guts greeted my nose. I met Derrick, the Director of Cultivation, outside of the facility. We used to play World of Warcraft together and we would swap grow tips as both of us were pretty involved in the weed world. He won the Dope Cup in 2016 for Best Sativa.
Inside The Facility
Both floors look almost identical. A long hallway with doors on either side leading to rooms full of plants getting ready to harvest. I gave my identification to a lady behind a thick glass window and received a visitors badge. As I passed through a locked door I was given a set of glasses and a lab coat. It was interesting to learn that the building that Liberty Reach currently uses was originally designed by House of Cultivar.
Each room held eight raised containers full of plants. These beds stretch almost from one end of the room to the other, with a narrow walkway through the middle. Plants that were flowering had stopped growing vertically and had begun to sprawl out into the walkway. Anytime I walked between the beds’ nugs would brush up against my lab coat, leaving their wonderful aroma all over me.
The strain that stood out to me the most was their Mendo Breath. A deep, almost black purple covered the leaves and bud. Each of the flowering rooms contained a variety of phenotypes of different strains. Some of the strains I saw have not been released by Liberty Reach yet. Harvesting once a week they produce around 500 pounds of product a month. Derrick currently has oversight of all of the growing operations within the facility as well as a facility in Nevada. With plans to take over another farm just down the road, Liberty Reach is rapidly expanding to meet the needs of their consumers.
What to Look Out For
I saw a lot of really good looking weed while visiting the facility. Their Granola Funk and Tropicana Pie both looked absolutely phenomenal. They are also getting ready to release a line of CBD vape cartridges with classy wooden tips. There were a few other strains that stood out to me that customers should look out for at their local shops. The variety of strains was almost overwhelming at times. Despite the size of their facility, Liberty Reach aims to deliver a consistently high-quality product.
