Ledges_ just released their latest work, “The Sun, The Stars, The Moon, and Me.” This chillwave album quickly grew on me as I listened through each track, noticing hints of various eclectic sounds wrapped up together into every song. The album makes for a chill, dreamy, and captivating collection, which invokes an almost hypnotic nighttime vibe.
These two artists, producer Anthony Vertullo and Songwriter Stephen Connolly, met while in college in Connecticut. The two bonded through their passion for music, specifically the chillwave scene of the 2000’s. Their chillwave/pop/fusion sound took on its own form as the two experimented with vintage synthesizers and pushed boundaries with funk, jazz, and indie elements.
The 80’s style synth sound that Ledges_ often invokes is uniquely tuned in, seemingly, to its own sub-genre of chillwave. The synths are repetitious and trance-like, and the melody is a soothing blanket of warmth. Although not the type of music I usually listen to during the day, at night time I can get stuck listening to this album on repeat.
