Lana Del Rey released a track called “Mariners Apartment Complex” from her new upcoming album yesterday and she is releasing another single called “Venice Bitch” on Tuesday, September 18th. The album, name yet to be released to the public, is set to debut in 2019. This will be Lana’s sixth album.
Del Rey released a music video along with the track which was shot by her sister, Chuck Grant. The black and white video shows Del Rey singing and simultaneously playing with butterflies with shots of waves blended. Jack Antoff from Bleachers produced the track, and he’s also produced songs for Taylor Swift and Lorde. These tracks are perfect for the “end of summer” as Lana wrote on her Instagram.
The 33-year-old Coney Island queen’s songs are the kind of songs you listen to while driving on the coast during sunset. Her songs always leave me feeling nostalgic and the right kind of gloomy. She has remained consistent in her aesthetic and musical style since she first released music under her birth name, Elizabeth Grant. Although the singer has yet to win a Grammy award, three of her songs have been on the Billboard Top 100. DJ Cedric Gervais remixed Lana’s song “Summertime Sadness” and it peaked at #6 on the boards in 2013, Del Rey performed at Coachella just a year later in 2014.
Lana splits her time between New York and Malibu, and her songs definitely portray that. She released a song called “Brooklyn Baby” from her album “Ultraviolence” back in 2014, and now she is set to release “Venice Bitch.” Del Rey has a love for both the East and the West Coast although she was born in New York.
