LA Sunset Strain Review (Ft. LA Kush)

Los Angeles Kush is one of the most historic cannabis brands in California. Their dispensary features a variety of cannabis products including their in-house private reserve line as well as other brands popular throughout California. Located around the corner from Cal State in East LA, I was very excited to visit for my first time.

I started off the visit by getting to spend a solid 15 minutes or so with a budtender named Hope. I got schooled on each of the strains offered by their in-house private reserve LA Kush brand. The LA Kookies, LA Sunset, LA Honor, and the Black Gelato all stood out to me, but I ended up taking her advice and going with the LA Sunset and the LA Honor.

LA Sunset Visual Appeal

The packaging and branding for each of the LA Kush products is dope. A small glass jar is placed inside a decorative and themed box. Plenty of THC, CBD, and harvest information are on the back label. Shoutout to Hope for walking me through the labeling and for taking the time to show me every single one of the LA Kush strains.

For the LA Sunset, the packaging includes beautiful palm trees and a blue sky. This lowkey made feel like a beautiful sunny day might be included in the overall experience. Surprisingly, the smoke of this strain ended up being significantly more enjoyable than the initial smell of the flower.

LA Sunset Sensory Appeal

When I opened the jar, I was hit with a smooth and creamy cheese smell, similar to that of some kind of processed cheese scent. There were three smaller size buds, each one covered in bright orange hairs and a notable amount of kief. Described as a hybrid, the LA Sunset smacked me in the face with an energetic boost of energy after smoking through less than half a gram.

For daily smokers and dabbers, this strain provides potent effects. It’s paired with a fair price point at $15 a gram before tax. Most definitely better suited for cannaseurs and high-level cannabis users. Tourists and consumers with lower tolerances should consider this when they’re looking for an energetic high that leaves the user feeling buzzed, or at least definitely not sober.
