According to the Los Angeles Times on October 29th, 2018 a Los Angeles County Sheriff deputy and two other men dressed in Sheriff jackets committed an armed robbery of a legal cannabis distribution warehouse in Los Angeles, CA.
The three men came up to the location near downtown LA in a moving truck and had a warrant-like paper to show the guards. They then threw the guards in the back of a Sheriff SUV and proceeded to rob over a million dollars of legal marijuana and cash. Deputy Marc Antrim and another’s house underwent searches by law enforcement where they uncovered weapons, ammunition, and over $350,000 in bundled cash.
“At the time of the robbery late last month, Antrim was not on duty and was not assigned to a narcotics unit that would have given him a reason to search a marijuana distribution warehouse in the city of Los Angeles, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.” – Los Angeles Times
During the illegal raid someone called the Los Angeles police department and officers showed up on the scene to greet the officers robbing the place. Antrim’s cohorts fled the scene. Antrim came up to the officers and “called his supervisor,” who assured this was an authorized sting operation. The police even left. Yet the cannabis grow had a hunch something was wrong.
Their lawyers submitted security footage to authorities who then matched up footage with the second wave of officers body camera footage. This was enough evidence to search Antrim and his associate’s homes where cash and marijuana were found. The three men are being held in custody and are facing conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
