Seattle producer and rapper Kellan. is back with his new song “QLC” accompanied by a new music video as well. After dropping his single “Better in the Summer” a few months ago, he’s looking to maintain his forward momentum.
His latest song “QLC”, which stands for “quarter life crisis”, showcases flexibility from his vocals and production. The instrumental features smooth vocal samples that ride with heavy percussion from start to finish. While the instrumental stays in the same sonic landscape throughout most of the song, strong improvised jazz influences are heard at the end.
One of the most impactful elements on “QLC” are the lyrics that Kellan. delivers throughout. He confronts a variety of important topics that include political and personal thoughts on himself and his generation. An example of this can be heard with the lines “move fast, but you gone nowhere” and “my president’s dumb, so when the fuck am I gonna be someone?”
