Romance comes in all sorts of forms: flowers, candles, chocolate, moonlight, etc. However, for Washington rapper Jone$, these sentiments are outdated and on his new single “Romantic”, he lets you know how to set a mood in 2018.
Switching between a Swae Lee-esque falsetto and his regular commanding tone, Jone$ paints pictures of women “dancin in a mansion” and “poppin ***** in the kitchen” to which he’ll “buy you flowers when you done”. In the age of DM slidin’ and swiping right, Jone$ provides an anthem for those out there who are about getting theirs, but still possess enough game to make it a charming experience (and all over a SLAPPING beat by ProdByDmac).
For those unaware, Jone$, now 22 years young, has been making music for 10 years and is a living testament that with hard work and perseverance, you can climb up the music industry ladder regardless of your origin. He started off the way many artists around Seattle began, with smaller shows at Studio Seven (R.I.P). However, after years of working on his craft, Jone$ elevated to bigger venues, opening for the likes of Fat Trel and Metro Boomin’ out in DC in 2016.
Perhaps even more impressive, Jone$ went on a nationwide tour with Mark Battles last year and has been able to collaborate with Felly, King Los, and Seattle prince Dave B. After a couple changes of management, Jone$ is now on Swaying Needle, which boasts an impressive roster of up-and-coming artists from the Seattle area and constantly hosts shows that bring in talent from around the country which garner packed venues.
During a conversation with Jone$, he explained that his goal with his music is to “inspire others who are on a long journey and feel like there’s no chance to make it somewhere. I ain’t make it yet, but I’ve done more than I ever would’ve thought and that’s how I want others to feel too.”
With the recent outcry from Seattle rapper’s feeling slighted by Lil Mosey’s “nothing’s goin’ on in Seattle” comment on his No Jumper interview, Jone$ is definitely the type of artist you need to throw in your rotation if you truly want to see this city break this stigma. Not only is his ever-growing creativity on display on “Romantic”, you can see from this article that he also has the track record and attitude to help push the community forward.
With the determination that is evident in all his tracks and his journey as an artist, we are expecting to get a lot more quality songs like “Romantic” out of Jone$ for years to come. With that being the case, brush up on his discography and stream his newest slap on Apple Music, Spotify, and Soundcloud today!
