At Ultra Music Festival, Respect My Region had the opportunity to speak to Infuze in Miami about his Roll-Up remix, being a DJ dad, & more.
Infuze is a DJ and producer known for his extremely quick and technical mixes, complex arrangements, and powerful engineering skills. He boasts a futuristic sound that has garnered the attention of many fans and even STMPD RCRDS. It is a record label founded by Martin Garrix, who also signs Osrin and DubVision—artists we also interviewed at Ultra.
Infuze, born in Washington DC, grew up around a highly musical family that inspired him heavily to get into music. Another inspiration was the early 2000’s rave scene that led him to become a DJ and producer. Additionally, while residing in NYC, he learned how to combine his EDM ideas with his Pop savvy. His most recent releases include a number of singles such as “With You” and “You Know” from 2020.

RMR x Infuze Exclusive Interview
RMR: Why did you choose the name Infuze as your artist name? Does it have to do with weed?
Infuze: I do like weed, but no it’s not a weed reference. I made a mixed CD when I was seventeen years old, with my turntables. I needed a name to put on it and I randomly thought about the word infuse, and that’s what it’s always been for the last 28 years.
RMR: What inspired you to do the “Roll-up” remix?
Infuze: That one came about because I loved the Bauer remix of that song. The stars aligned and all of a sudden I was in a room with Bauer and Flosstradamus in a green-room backstage and I was just like hey I have a really wild idea, and they gave me the stems, and I did it. From there it was kind of just going to be a free release, but I thought it was cooler than that so I showed it to my friend Mikeshops at Fool’s Gold, and he was super into it. The song was originally released on Fool’s gold, so it just made sense for them to do it, so they did a huge 420 release for it.
RMR: Do you spend much time on the West Coast?
Infuze: I’m from New York, but I’m originally from DC, and I’ve lived in New York for about 15 years. My brother lives in LA and I have a lot of friends in LA so in a previous life I went to LA all the time, but now I’m a dad so I don’t travel as much.
RMR: How does being a dad impact your career?
Infuze: Well I can’t travel as much for sure, but I actually find it very inspiring. I have less time, but sometimes that is something that is good. It compresses individuals and sometimes that’s good for creative flow. I haven’t found it to be detrimental to my music career and sometimes it’s really been great.
RMR: Do you have any other passions outside of being a dad and making music?
Infuze: I’m really into Bitcoin and politics, and I spend a lot of time reading. I need a proper hobby though because music was my hobby, and then it became my career and now I need a new hobby.
RMR: What are you most excited about at Ultra?
Infuze: Well I am very excited to see Martin [Garrix’s] set. I’m always so impressed when I see that kind of music in this way; it’s a huge stage and it’s exactly what the music is designed for.
RMR: What’s your favorite thing about performing?
Infuze: I would have to say that I really enjoy the DJing and I’ve been trying to get my head back into that space and do longer mixes. I’m doing a lot more House music stuff now.
