Jay Park continues to solidify himself in the U.S. music scene as he teams up with iLL Chris in a new single titled, “Not the Same.” The Seattle duo teamed up to deliver a hard-hitting banger that represents the new age of Northwest hip-hop.
Seeing these two hometown artists work together is a prize for any Northwest music lover. Park has been repping the region his entire career, whereas Chris has been pushing the envelope and developing himself as a top artist in our area. The two together deliver a killer flow that anyone can rock to.
2019 seems to be the year for all Seattle artists. Ranging from Travis Thompson to Lil Mosey, the town has truly been putting on. With the city’s great diversity, it’s a treat to be able to see two established Asian-American artists working together on one track.
With heavy aggressive bars and a trans-inducing beat, “Not the Same” hits each category that makes a song great for me. The duo continues to represent and follow the new found Seattle sound. High energy, catchy trap that anyone can vibe with.
Not only this, but the single is a testament to iLL Chris’ pull in the music game. With an impressive resume of features including smokepurpp, Ski Mask the Slump God & Famous Dex; Chris continues to pull attention to the city.
As 2019 continues, it’s exciting to see where our favorite artists will pop up. I hope to see more collaborations between Jay Park and other up-and-coming artists in our area. It seems in the past year that whatever Park touches, turns to gold. We’ll just have to wait for the rest of the year to see what else he’s able to cook up.
