Honeysuckle Magazine Explores The Change In East Coast Cannabis Culture On Northeast Cannabis Podcast

Up until recently, cannabis culture on the East Coast has been a largely underground experience. With the rise of legalization, however, we are starting to see more and more information on the industry circulating through East Coast Media. One publication that made waves early on by exploring the topic of cannabis is Honeysuckle Magazine.

On the Northeast Cannabis Podcast’s second episode, magazine founders Ronit and Sam discussed the impact of cannabis on the East Coast– as well as their experiences in building one of the most diverse publications in the country.

Diverse Voices, High Impact

Honeysuckle Magazine is an award-winning print and digital publication led by females. They are known for their exploration of topics like gender and sexuality, racial politics, the environment, cannabis, as well as pop culture.

Motivated by the goal to better themselves and their surroundings, the magazine has spent the last ten years building a platform for the voices of the underrepresented. In doing so, the publication accurately and fairly represents the communities and individuals they report on.

To demonstrate their goal, Honeysuckle Magazine puts into action their mission to better the world around them. In fact, the journalism of the publication was responsible for aiding in the compassionate release of DaReta Gail Stevenson. Stevenson, a NY female inmate, contracted leukemia after spending 22 years in prison. As a result, the publication was awarded the New York State Assembly’s Citation Award from Assemblywoman, Inez E. Dickens of the 70th district for “significant contribution to the culture and community of New York City.”

Exploring the East Coast Cannabis Industry

Honeysuckle Magazine’s founders sat down with cannabis marketing expert Jake Robinson to share some of their experiences in cannabis. The podcast was made with the purpose of exposing the value that the East Coast brings to the industry.

Throughout the interview, the founders discuss the role of their publication in educating viewers about the counterculture prior to the legalization of weed. Honeysuckle Magazine established itself as a bold-thinking publication that was unafraid to discuss controversial topics. When the subject of cannabis and psychedelics started to arise in their audiences, the magazine didn’t hesitate to join in the discussion.

Throughout the interview, we can see why Honeysuckle Magazine has become such a prominent publication on the East Coast. The rebellious spirit of its founders translates into the publication; a feeling that cannabis lovers can easily relate to.
