Caviar Gold is one of the more noteworthy cannabis brands in California. On top of producing their wide-array of cannabis products, they also produce Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob branded cannabis. Caviar Gold’s Moon Rock is a novel idea that combines full cannabis flower with distillate and kief. Caviar Gold gave their Grape Jelly strain the moon rock treatment, but for me, it came with mixed results.
The moon rock comes in a colorful package with space graphics and bold font encompassing the moon’s terrain. It definitely catches the eye, but the aromas coming from the jar were the real highlight. The Grape Jelly strain reeked of just that, sugary grape sauce that belongs on hot buttered toast.
Unfortunately, the flavor and smoking experience weren’t on par with the pungent smells. It could be the distillate affected the taste, but there was a harsh sensation during the smoke. I also didn’t get the chance to try this product fresh, as it was harvested in August 2019. It could be that the dispensary didn’t rotate this product and the time on the shelf damaged the terpenes and effected the taste.
Luckily a solid relaxing high took over quickly and focused my mind on the gaming at hand.
