San Diego’s iconic EarthFair is finally returning to Balboa Park this Sunday, April 24th. For the first time in three years, the world’s largest family-friendly Earth Day festival will host around 200 exhibitors. There will be multiple food courts and beer gardens, four stages, and Cannabis Row, a weed-friendly section of the festival featuring the 4/20 Farmers Cup.
The San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market is hosting Cannabis Row with 70 cannabis-friendly booths. 15-foot hemp plants will line Cannabis Row along with other decorations. Within this 21+ environment, there will be a stage and even a beer garden. The 4/20 awards will be held by the Farmers Cup on the Cannabis Row stage featuring the competition winners. Three buses will be available to take people to and from their cars that allow cannabis consumption during the ride. The 31st EarthFair festival at Balboa Park officially runs from 10 am-5 pm.
Farmers Cup: 4/20 Edition
The San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market is a well-known local company that used to hold underground farmer-to-consumer cannabis markets before Prop 64 in 2018. They now regularly put on legal events under the Farmers Cup moniker. This year’s 4/20 Farmers Cup is inviting licensed brands, craft home growers, and even hemp growers to submit their best cannabis/hemp flower for adjudication. Local radio personality Chris Cantore will be hosting the actual awards ceremony.
The Farmers Cup competition consists of five categories: Flower, Edibles, Pre-Rolls, Concentrates, and Vape Cartridges. As mentioned, there are three competitions to accommodate licensed brands, home growers, and hemp farmers. Within each category, there are subdivisions for titles such as best Indoor, Outdoor, or Mixed Light flower as well as best Live Rosin, Cured Rosin, and Bubble Hash. The Hemp competition will also include tinctures along with the other five categories. There’s literally a competition for everyone and everything in cannabis.
Dispensary Partners
Only the best dispensaries in San Diego are acting as pickup zones for entrants at Sunday’s EarthFair. Farmers Cup 4/20 judge pick-up dispensary partners have just been announced. The retail brands participating include Originals San Diego, Hikei, and Golden State Greens.
