Every year the EDM community throws hands over a bizarre, out-of-touch, but somehow clout-worthy list: the yearly DJ Mag “Top 100 DJs” list. This list is supposedly comprised of the best DJs in the world, ranked in order from 1 to 100. But every year, the EDM community shows up to roast DJ Mag mercilessly for it.
The list is famously out of touch with the skills of the DJs, ranking them in a bizarre order that fans can’t seem to agree on. It’s also rumored that DJ Mag will place you higher up in the list for a price. Sounds shady, but not unheard of for a media company that gets millions of clicks on a famous list.
Some DJs old and new to the game took to Twitter to express frustration over the list, or to laugh about its absurdity.
oh shit didn’t realize the DJ Mag poll was this weekend i was too busy making music

Hey everyone – if we all just stop talking about the DJ Mag Top 100 then it’ll stop being relevant. Your complaints are keeping it alive, like those monsters in the Simpsons pic.twitter.com/AEaDE8dURJ

If you want to read the list for yourself, you can see it here. Be forewarned though: it’s not what you would expect if you’ve been following who’s up-and-coming this year.
