Grab some popcorn and buckle up, because Like and Subscribe, Dillon Francis’ own comedy series, is finally out on Funny or Die. The series was rife with distribution issues over the summer when its original distributor, go90, closed at the end of July. Despite the setbacks, Like and Subscribe lives on at Funny or Die.
The first episode of the meta-comedy series is titled “The House.” In it, the main character Skyy Goldwynne (played by Dillon), finds out that his talent agency is being littered with bad PR after contracting problematic “influencers.” Skyy cooks up a plan to put all of the offending influencers in a luxury home in LA, and film them on a Big Brother-esque reality TV show.
The entire episode is filled with parody humor directed towards YouTube stars in particular. If the “house full of influencers” setup sounds familiar, you’re probably drawing the connection to Jake Paul’s controversial “Team 10” house. The video even makes a nod to Jake Paul around the 5-minute mark with a scene featuring “Zach Jake” and “Team Zacknation.”
If you’re a fan of Dillon Francis’ bizarre parody humor, or if you’re just fed up with “influencer culture” in general, you’ll want to tune in to Like and Subscribe. Episode one sets the series up for a scathing critique of everything wrong with the hype around social media influencers. From there, the rest of the series is available to watch on Funny or Die.
And of course, the series is set to Dillon Francis music sprinkled throughout – because, why not.
