Cannabis consumers and craft beer lovers are two different, yet like-minded groups of people; both share an interest in flavor and aroma as well as an appreciation for psychoactive effects. This 4/20, Elysian Brewing Company released Dank Dust, a 4/20-themed beer that brings out the best qualities of cannabis and craft beer. While the beer is not infused with any cannabis, its aromatic qualities are reminiscent of a pungent herbal strain.
Who is Elysian Brewing Company?
Elysian is a Seattle-based brewing company known for variety. Since its opening in 1996, the brand has released over 200 different beers. Elysian isn’t afraid to experiment with flavor; an action that was made clear with the creation of Dank Dust.
Experience
Dank Dust gets its name from the “hyper dose” of terpenes that gives the beer its weed-like smell. Opening the can releases aromas of lush grapefruit, mango, and orange with undertones of herb throughout. An IPA through and through, customers will experience a sweet hop flavor with a subtle bitterness on the aftertaste. One Untappd reviewer commented “Seriously dank and serious bitter hops. They nailed it. I opened a beer and wondered where the pipe was.”
Dank Dust contains 8.2% alcohol; a strong amount that may appeal to high-potency lovers. The beer ranks 62 on the IBU scale, indicating that it is fairly bitter.
Director of Dank: Action Bronson
According to Elysian Brewing, the room-filling aroma of Dank Dust will make you crave something to snack on. To act as a munchies sommelier of sorts, the brewery appointed cannabis legend, chef, and rapper Action Bronson as “Director of Dank” for the product.
The Queens rapper views Dank Dust as a beer meant for friends and family that tastes amazing with food and snacks. Bronson went as far as creating two recipes that should be paired with the beer: short ribs and funnel cake.
