Dancing with the Stars Week Three: Two-Night Event Recap

The 33rd season of Dancing with the Stars continues with a two-night event for week three on Monday and Tuesday. Night one was “Soul Train Night,” in which the remaining 11 couples of season 33 performed one unlearned dance to a song from the musical variety program Soul Train. Night two, “Hair Metal Night,” features each couple performing one unlearned dance to a rock anthem. 

Another double elimination occurred this week; no elimination happened on night one, instead, two couples were eliminated on night two. The two lowest-scoring couples, Eric Roberts and Britt and Reginald VelJohnson and Emma Slater were eliminated at the end of week three.

This week welcomed two guest judges: Actress and former Soul Train dancer Rosie Perez on night one, and Gene Simmons, bassist and co-lead singer of Kiss and Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer.

Week Three: Phaedra and Val

On night one, Phaedra and Val danced the quickstep to Aretha Franklin’s “Think.” The judges scored them a combined 30 points.

On night two, Phaedra and Val danced the paso doble to Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name.” The couple earned a combined 26 points, bringing them to a total of 96 for the season.

Week Three: IIona and Alan

On night one, IIona and Alan danced the foxtrot to Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade.” The judges awarded them a combined 30 points for their performance.

IIona and Alan danced the Jive to Quiet Riot’s “Cum On Feel the Noize” for the second night of week three. The couple scored a combined 26 points from the judges for their performance, bringing their total for season 33 to 95 points.

Week Three: Eric and Britt

On night one, Eric and Britt danced the foxtrot to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.” The couple scored a combined 23 points from the judges.

Eric and Britt danced the paso doble to “Cherry Pie” by Warrant on the second night. They scored a combined 22 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 76 points for the season. Eric and Britt were one of two couples to be eliminated at the end of week three.

Week Three: Stephen and Rylee

Stephen and Rylee danced the quickstep to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” on night one of week three. They scored a combined 30 points from the judges.

On night two, Stephen and Rylee danced the Foxtrot to Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again.” They earned a combined 32 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 105 points for season 33.

Week Three: Brooks and Gleb

On night one, Brooks and Gleb danced the rumba to “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye. Their performance earned a combined 28 points from the judges.

For the second night, Brooks and Gleb danced the cha-cha-cha to “Nothin’ But a Good Time” by Poison. The couple earned a combined 33 points from the judges, bringing their total for the season to 99.

Week Three: Joey and Jenna

For night one, Joey and Jenna danced the jive to “Shout” by The Isley Brothers. The judges gave them a combined 34 points, including nine from Carrie Ann Inaba and Rosie Perez, the first of the season.

For night two, Joey and Jenna closed out the evening with the tango to “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions. They scored a combined 36 points from the judges, becoming the highest-scoring couple of the night. Joey and Jenna now trail closely behind Chandler and Brandon in second place, at 113 points for the season.

Week Three: Dwight and Daniella

Dwight and Daniella danced the cha-cha to “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind, and Fire for night one. They scored a combined 23 points from the judges.

On the second night, Dwight and Daniella danced the Paso doble to “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith. The couple scored a combined 29 points from the judges, giving them a total of 96 points for the season.

Week Three: Danny and Whitney

On night one, Danny and Whitney danced the foxtrot to The Jackson 5’s “Dancing Machine.” Their performance earned them a combined 30 points from the judges.

On the second night, Danny and Whitney performed a Paso Doble dance to Bon Jovi’s “Livin on a Prayer.” The couple earned a combined 30 points from the judges, putting them at 101 points for the season.

Week Three: Reginald and Emma

On the first night, Reginald and Emma danced the foxtrot to “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash. They scored a combined 21 points from the judges.

For the second night, Reginald and Emma danced the foxtrot to “I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sisters. They scored a combined 21 points from the judges, bringing their total for the season to 73. Reginald and Emma were one of two couples to be eliminated from the competition at the end of the episode.

Week Three: Jenn and Sasha

On night one, Jenn and Sasha performed a Viennese waltz to “Fallin‘” the debut single by singer Alicia Keys, from her 2001 debut album Songs in a Mirror. They scored a combined 31 points from the judges.

On night two, Jenn and Sasha danced the paso doble to “The Final Countdown” by Europe. They scored a combined 31 points from the judges, bringing their total for the season to 100.

Week Three: Chandler and Brandon

For soul train night, Chandler and Brandon closed out the evening dancing the cha-cha-cha to “It’s Tricky” by Run-DMC. They scored a combined 36 points from the judges, placing them in first place for both the night and season.

For hair metal night, Chandler and Brandon performed a jive dance to “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister. The couple scored a combined 33 points from the judges, bringing their total for the season to 116, still leading the competition.
