Curaleaf Holdings Inc. has been very busy this week with the announcement that their first batches of whole flower in New York finished testing. Third-party labs cleared three strains ready to be sold for medical use. These products began sales at Curaleaf Holdings’ Newburgh location earlier this week on Tuesday. Curaleaf then stocked dispensaries in Carle Place, Forest Hills, and Plattsburgh with whole flower the next day.

Curaleaf Works with New York Governor
This is what Curaleaf CEO Joe Bayern said about the announcement:
“Our patients have been waiting a long time for this day and we couldn’t be happier to be able to deliver whole flower product to all four of our New York locations…and to the majority of our wholesale partners within the month. Fortunately, we have been preparing for this moment and we are more than ready with plenty of product for all our New York locations.
“We are grateful to Gov. Hochul and the OCM [Office of Cannabis Management] for moving this forward so quickly, and we look forward to robust sales and happy customers. We appreciate the patience and loyalty of all our patients as we worked toward this milestone.”
This really solidifies the point-of-view of the New York Government and Society on cannabis legalization and culture. They’re making the cannabis market in New York their priority. Additionally, the government in NY has also passed regulations that haven’t been done yet in other states. The biggest examples are their laws around public consumption and their airport security priorities.
Cannabis Flower in New York Prior to the Curaleaf Announcement
Before the announcement, flower in its ground form was the only thing patients in New York could purchase. This was very frustrating and unfortunate at the time because there were plenty of patients who preferred the whole flower in its purest and most natural state.
The full potential of cannabis may be better achieved through whole flower when compared to pre-ground, making this a huge step forward for NY. Now, these frustrations finally meet relief through the speedy processes provided by the New York government and the people at Curaleaf.
Hopefully, Curaleaf will sell whole flower to most of the company’s wholesale partners in New York by the end of the month. This could swiftly establish the company at the top of New York’s market.
