Longtime fans of trap-infused EDM will be stoked to hear the long-awaited collaboration between Boombox Cartel and Flosstradamus for their new track “ID.” The filthy bass running through this minimalistic track makes it perfect for DJ sets and festivals.
Boombox Cartel teased the track on September 22nd on their Twitter. They loaded up 200 USBs with the new track, and created a geocache-like system to find them all over North America.
ive loaded up the collaboration w/ @flosstradamus onto 200 USBs & spread them across some of my favorite cities in north america. i hid them in popular landmarks and created a database with the location.
go find them and listen to it before everyone else. https://t.co/H5sD4ISCIn pic.twitter.com/qi1pRfLZ5N— Boombox Cartel (@BoomboxCartel) September 22, 2018
The track is cleverly named “ID” for the common question fans always ask during and after DJ sets: “what’s the ID?” This is the type of track that will have EDM fans asking for the ID when it’s played in sets. The trap-influenced baseline switches between a slow-grind rhythm and a moombahton-influenced one, then jumps to a quicker tempo in the second drop. The variation between the different rhythms means this is a perfect track for any EDM set.
Overall, “ID” isn’t the type of track to play on its own as a single. However, trap fans will really dig the filthy rhythm the track brings to the table. Expect to hear this one sprinkled throughout many sets in the festival season to come. You’ll be in on the joke when a friend asks: “ID?”
