After two summers without Seattle’s massive festival, the time has finally come to gather at The Gorge for Beyond Wonderland 2021. Party-goers from around the Pacific Northwest will have some trouble sleeping tonight with visions of lasers, Kandi, and house music bumping in their heads.
Here at RMR, we want to increase the excitement by showcasing some of our must-see acts of the weekend. With a lineup as big as this one, it was difficult to narrow a top artists list down to just these five.
Five Artists to Check Out at Beyond Wonderland 2021 at The Gorge
Green Velvet

Beyond Wonderland 2021 is absolutely packed with house vibes, but Green Velvet just might bring the most jacking beats of the entire weekend. Known as one of the early super stars in house, Green Velvet elevated the Chicago scene to an unprecedented level. His track “Flash” is one of the most recognizable tunes from 90s electronic music. I can remember blasting that one with my friends over the whole summer of 2014, proving that the vibe is timeless.
“Laser Beams” is also a crowd favorite, and if he plays it, I can guarantee the beams will feel a lot hotter! While I’m not exactly sure what a “percolator” is, his track with the same name is a supreme vibe from his days as Cajmere. Out of all of these artists going to Beyond Wonderland 2021, I would argue that this one is the top must-see for traditional house and techno.
JOYRYDE

Maybe your taste in dance is a bit more on the bassy side. In that case, JOYRYDE definitely has you covered. He fuses together a ton of UK vibes into one massive sound. It’s best you bring proper ear protection for this one.
When I’m out on deliveries and a JOYRYDE tune comes on, I definitely dial that shit up. “ON FIRE” has been one of the most played tunes on my Spotify this year, and for good reasons: this one is a 10/10 for energy. Not only that, but he added a clip of John F. Kennedy’s speech “We Chose to Go to The Moon,” which is such an off-the-wall choice, but it absolutely delivers.
Then, listening to tunes like “DAMN” shows off the diversity of his sound, which can venture into trap at times. If there were a bet on which artist is the most likely to set the sound equipment ablaze at Beyond Wonderland 2021, my money is on this guy.
Tiësto

Now, I know I have a reputation of being a trance elitist of sorts, but I cannot deny just how great of a performance Tiësto throws down. Back in 2017, he was the closing act of a star-studded Paradiso, where he certainly didn’t disappoint.
Tiësto’s sound has gone through many evolutions over his career. I was introduced to his tunes during his trance era. And when he transitioned to a more radio-friendly sound, his music proliferated even further to the point where “Wasted” and “Red Lights” were on C89.5 every single day. Earlier this year, his tune “The Business” even peaked at #5 on the Billboard Global chart outside of the US. Watch out for classic throwbacks during his set like “Adagio For Strings.”
LP Giobbi

I’ll be honest, last summer was a very hard one on all of us without events. At work, I listened to more music than ever before, trying as hard as I could to remember what it was like before the pandemic. Then, one day in my Spotify recommendations, LP Giobbi’s tune “Meet Again” came on.
If there were one song to encapsulate the feelings of hope and optimism of an end to the pandemic, it is this one. Remember that when this tune came out, we were already five months into the woods and there would be over a year left to go. Out of all of the artists on the lineup for Beyond Wonderland 2021, it’s likely LP Giobbi will deliver the true tear-jerking moment of the weekend when she drops this tune.
Alison Wonderland

Last but certainly not least for our list of the top five must see acts, we’ve saved the world renowned queen of trap and future bass: Alison Wonderland. This is not her first time at The Gorge either, as she played at Paradiso in 2016 and 2019.
It’s a huge mistake to wait on checking out this fantastic EDM maestro. “Run” and “No” were essential tunes during my quarter-life crisis last summer, and I owe a lot to this fantastic artist for being able to open up about mental health through music. I hope to see her on the main stage again for the best possible experience.
