Being a vertically integrated market, in addition to the tricky climate, most Florida medical cannabis has trouble reaching the same quality of flower as states like California. Nonetheless, there are certain dispensaries in the state that do offer premium flower that is indeed of a potent quality. With much of the cannabis in Florida, you must keep an eye out for issues such as mold or bud rot. For this reason, it can be difficult to navigate where the quality flower is.
Respect My Region has tried flower from all over the state, and from various dispensaries. Through the heaps of mids and hay, we were able to uncover some quality stuff in the Sunshine State. One strain that we thoroughly enjoyed and can confidently recommend is Astraeus from FLUENT. It is a cross of Chem D and Gb6Trix, with genetics from Freedom Town Holdings, creating a premium indica-leaning hybrid.
Sold as an 8th for $45, this flower is premium quality, but as the price reflects, it’s still not on the top shelf of what Florida has to offer. Dispensaries like Grow Healthy have proven to sit up there with their Master Grower Series flower, though. Nonetheless, for the price Astraeus is a great choice for a solid, high quality smoke at a fair cost.
Astraeus Strain by FLUENT Review
Upon opening the container, I was met with layers of frosty flower. In fact, the leaves and buds were hardly visible through the thick layers of kief. But, once grinding the nugs, the various shades of green became apparent, and hints of purple were revealed also. Fiery orange pistols were also littered throughout. As I inspected the aesthetic of the bud, the citrus and gassy scent shot up my nose. Before I even took a hit, I knew I was in for a ride.
I took a pinch from the grinder and loaded up a bowl. One issue with Florida weed is that it is often dry. However, with FLUENT’s Astraeus that didn’t seem to be the case, so I was expecting a smooth smoke. It certainly lived up to my expectations in terms of smoke; it didn’t hit the throat too harshly or leave me hacking.
Experience with the Astraeus Strain
What I didn’t mention from the start is that this cannabis flower only clocks in at around 14% THC. However, this strain helps prove that THC percentage doesn’t solely matter. Because of the care and quality put into the plants during cultivation, as well as the strong genetics, Astraeus comes out potent and rich in terpenes – most prominently, limonene, myrcene, and beta-caryophyllene.
The effects set in at around 20 minutes, and I started to feel out what the Astraeus strain had to offer. As an indica-leaning hybrid, I was expecting anywhere from a chill daytime high to being knocked out for the night. It wasn’t the latter. However, in higher doses this strain may have the potential to be a sleeping remedy.
My experience proved more suited for the daytime. Astraeus offered me a motivating and uplifting experience, which helped me complete mundane tasks such as laundry and dishes. I found that this strain from FLUENT helped to wipe stress away so I could focus on more important things. Thus, this may be a good strain for those looking for possible relief from anxiety, depression, PTSD, or chronic pain.
