Who grows the best cannabis in California? The 2022 California State Fair is seeking to answer this very question. For the first time ever in the United States, a state-sanctioned fair will soon host a cannabis flower competition.

The competition is open to all licensed growers in California. Entrants are classified specifically by the light source of their flower. The divisions are as follows: indoor, mixed-light, and outdoor.
Scientifically Ranked to Measure Cannabis Quality
Contestants rank via certified scientific analysis by SC Labs. Their team will provide Certificates of Analysis (COA‘s), as well as a PhytoFacts® chemometric report. The judges will conduct tests to identify seven individual cannabis plant compounds. These results will help determine the winners.

Tons of Medals Up for Grabs at the California State Fair
There are 77 bronze, silver, gold, and double gold medals up for grabs. Additionally, there are Golden Bear trophies for the “Best of California” in each category.
The awards were developed in partnership between the California Exhibition & State Fair and Cultivar Brands, a California-based cannabis marketing and events agency.
Cultivar Brands CEO Brian Applegarth said the awards “will showcase the California farmer, large and small, and the incredible cannabis flower that the state has to offer.”
