Hip-hop fans around the world have been anxiously waiting for the release of beloved rapper Bobby Shmurda. After being involved in a massive GS9 bust in 2014 and spending six years locked up, Shmurda was released this past February. Though he’s been free for over half a year, the New York rapper is yet to release any new music. Fans are now anxiously awaiting the musical comeback of this cult favorite rapper.
Fans of Shmurda got a drop of hope after he teased a new song at Rolling Loud Miami. It’s unclear when this song may be released, though. The issue doesn’t seem to be that Shmurda doesn’t have music to release, or just doesn’t want to release. It seems that his label, Epic Records, may be what’s holding the “Hot N****” rapper back from releasing new music.

As part of his contract with Epic Records, he was slated to release his debut project before getting locked up six years ago. Allegedly, Roc Nation is interested in signing him, but before Shmurda can switch over, he may need to fulfil his contract with Epic Records. While none of this is confirmed, it seems Shmurda may be working out these details before hopping back into creating new music.
Despite any business situations, it may simply just be that Bobby Shmurda is taking it easy and enjoying his life now that he is a free man again. In a recent Instagram post where he’s flashing luxurious cars, Shmurda implies that this is likely the case. He states in the caption, “I’m Bizzy running round needed some time to breathe they had me locked up In the pins doing 23!”
It’s still unclear when Shmurda is going to release new music. Despite this, it is great to see him free and out in the world enjoying life again. Lucky for fans, Shmurda does have some recent features in the meantime, including a verse on “TATA” by J Balvin and Eladio Carrion.
