I haven’t been to a show at The Showbox by the market since it became a historical landmark amidst the tear down plans. Seeing The Knocks play at the venue is the first time ever since. The venue felt as inviting as ever, and I’m glad that I got to have another enjoyable experience at The Showbox.
It’s been a little over two years since I first saw The Knocks play at Neptune on the Feel Good Feel Great Tour. It was a big happy dance party. This time around, the had a whole new stage setup, and it was their first time touring with a band. Other than just the two of them, they brought out a drummer, bass player, and guitar player. The latter two also doubled as vocalists to accompany J. Patt’s voice. The entire band had a great energy and was very in-sync with each other.
This time around, the dance party was bigger and better. It was no longer just good music with a light show, the show this time felt more interactive and had a thematic New York Narcotic feel to it. The Knocks developed their vision of a New York styled dance party and brought what they know to Seattle and spread the love to the crowd.
Their New York Narcotic album is incredible, and I highly recommend people give the album a listen. The album has a mix of sounds from both hip hop and pop styled EDM. However it comes together well as a collective whole. The Knocks themselves are incredibly talented people and I would encourage everyone to catch them next time they’re in town.
