Today the EDM community mourns as Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii, passed away within the last 24 hours in Oman. Here is the official statement from his publicist, Diana Baron.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
This is purely speculation due to the lack of evidence but he may have had organ failure due to excessive drinking, which he has publically talked about dealing with.
We at Respect My Region want to look back at the highlights of his career to show those who might not know him what talent he brought to the community.

Here is what the EDM community members had to say about Avicii’s passing:
“My sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to the friends, fans, and families of Avicii š Banter aside, nobody can deny what he has accomplished and done for modern dance music and I’m very proud of him. I would have enjoyed nothing more than ripping into Avicii well into and beyond our 60’s. taken away from us far too young. I know he’s at peace somewhere up there getting the last laugh that I spelled his name right this time.” -Deadmau5
“You set the precedent for the rest of us producers/ opened doors and set the trends. A real groundbreaker and influencer to all your peers. You should have lived to be 150.. but your music is gonna live forever. I’m not just saying that.. but you are the only one to always make timeless songs. You were the gold standard. You made me want to try and make dance music when I first heard “seek bromance.”Ā And then u kept making feel like shit cause you kept getting better and I couldn’t even mix a snare right .. you were the best of this generation. A real superstar. I know you had your demons and maybe this wasn’t the right place for you sometimes, but we need to protect true artists like you at all costs because there are not enough left and we are losing too many .. be good Tim.” – Diplo
“Devastating news about Avicii, a beautiful soul, passionate and extremely talented with so much more to do. My heart goes out to his family. God bless you, Tim.” – Calvin Harris
“No words can describe the sadness Iām feeling right now, hearing about Avicii passing away…

“A long time ago he gave us the opportunity to open one of his shows and really helped boost our career in house music. Itās a sad moment for music in general regardless of genre. This guy inspired us all. You will be missed.”Ā Ā – Tom & Collins
